How to repair the reverse clutch drum of CD4E

There are two copper sleeves (cups) in the device that are very easy to wear. One is the copper sleeve of the oil pump on the oil pump shaft on the side of the reverse clutch, and the other is on the other side of the reverse clutch. The copper sleeves on the gear clutch cover (direct shell) are connected together. These two copper sleeves are included in many CD4E copper sleeve repair kits (such as TRANSTAR).

However, in the reverse clutch drum, the reverse clutch drum journal connected to the direct clutch copper sleeve is easily damaged together with the copper sleeve due to the soft material. At this time, it is not enough to repair the copper sleeve alone, because The journal on the reverse clutch drum is worn out, so generally only the entire reverse clutch drum can be replaced.

A reverse clutch bushing recently introduced by Sones can be used to repair the journal on a worn reverse clutch drum, thus saving a lot of money on replacing a new clutch drum. The installation steps are as follows:

1 The journal of the reverse clutch drum is machined on the machine as shown in the figure below.

2 Apply lothay glue (Loctite) to the bushing and reverse clutch journal.

3 Use a mandrel press to press the bushing into the journal and keep it flush with the top of the journal.

4 Check that the reverse clutch drum matches the direct clutch housing cup.
